The Staff

Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. They are excited about what they do, and they care personally about getting the best results for our patients.
Our receptionists will try to accommodate your busy schedule by finding appointments that suit your needs. We will help you understand your insurance coverage and if financial arrangements are necessary, we will be glad to help you develop a plan to make your vision care treatment possible.

Meet Our Staff:

Cathy Kromm – Licensed Optician

Cathy obtained her Optician’s license right after high school in 1990 and has been in the optical industry ever since. Before joining our team in 2014 she was a General Manager at Lenscrafters in Edmonton for 15 years, and a Retail Manager/Optician at Lenscrafters in Red Deer for 2 years. Cathy enjoys the customer service aspects of her job the most, as well as helping customers chose frames and lenses that are best suited for their wants and needs. In her free time, Cathy is a dance and hockey mom. She also enjoys being outdoors, camping, gardening, and lounging on their deck.

Theresa Wallace – Licensed Optician/Contact Lens Practitioner

Theresa joined Central Vision & Hearing in 2015 after working at the Walmart Optical & Vision Centre for 9 years, and Hauck Vision and Hearing prior to that. After becoming a Licensed Optician in 2003, she also obtained her Contact Lens Practitioner License in 2005. Theresa has also been an examiner for the National Association of Canadian Optician Regulators since 2008. In her free time you can find her with her family and pets, and spending time in the garden.

Jackie Mechefske – Optician

In 2015 Jackie joined our office after working at Red Deer Eyecare and Doctors Eyecare for a combined 29 years. Jackie takes a special interest in building relationships with the patients and helping them choose the best frame and lens options. Outside of the office Jackie enjoys traveling, camping in Central Alberta, spending time with her two granddaughters, reading, and gardening.

Susan Wiebe – Pre-test/Optometric Assistant

After starting at our office in 2013, Susan worked at the front desk and then transitioned into pre-testing in 2014. In 2016 she completed her certification for the Optometric Assistant course. Her favorite part about her position at Central Vision & Hearing is the patient interaction. Outside of the office Susan enjoys traveling with her husband and family.

Alesia Risler – Reception/Pre-test

Alesia joined our team in 2017 and has since taken on the role of pre-tester. Prior to working at our office, she worked as a receptionist at the Stettler Medical Clinic for 4 years. Alesia enjoys the patients we serve, the lovely ladies she works with, and learning something new every day. Outside of the office Alesia enjoys taking her kids to their activities, curling in the winter, and playing so-pitch and walking in the summer.

Chrissy Miller – Optometric Assistant

In 2019 Chrissy joined our team after working as an Office Admin in the oil and gas industry for 6 years. She is due to start the Optical Sciences program through NAIT in September 2019. She enjoys working with customers and helping them chose frames. In her free time, Chrissy can be found spending time with her family, hitting the gym, reading, and camping.

Lindsey Gelech – Administrative Assistant/Hearing Aid Student Intern

After completing her Business Administration diploma at Red Deer College in 2015, Lindsey joined our office as our Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. Lindsey is currently working towards her Hearing Aid Practitioner diploma and will be finished all schooling in Spring 2019. She is excited to transition into this new role, as customer care has always been an important aspect of her job. In her free time, Lindsey plays slo-pitch with her local team, and you can often find her riding her horses.

Sara Lovell – Receptionist

Sara started at Central Vision and Hearing in 2019 after completing her Travel & Tourism diploma in 2018, and working at the Calgary International Airport. She enjoys greeting and helping customers as well as making sure the front desk runs smoothly. Outside of the office, you can find Sara tending to her garden, walking her dog, and watching anything true-crime.

Linda Shoemaker – Office Administration

After working as a Teacher’s Assistant at the local Hutterite colonies, Linda joined our team in 2005. In her role as Office Administrator, Linda enjoys helping others and working with her fellow coworkers. In her free time Linda enjoys spending time with her family, attending her grand kids activities, spending time with friends, and working on puzzles.
